Cedar Breaks, Coral Sands, Kanab

We began our day by scouting around Cedar City. Seems like a nice prosperous town. Home of Southern Utah University. The motel we had, Abbey Inn, was great! Very unique - they had their free hot breakfast in a residential home next door. Very cute! Reasonably priced, too. Would recommend.

The weather is perfect! Not a cloud! We headed up through canyons on a beautiful road through aspens that were changing to their fall yellow colors. We arrived at the top of Cedar Breaks (misnamed because there are no cedars!) We were not expecting to be at an elevation of 10500 feet! And, it was cold, only 42 degrees, but little wind and bright sun. We took a 2.5 miles hike to Alpine Pond - a nice walk in the woods.

Then we headed down the mountain on our way to Kanab and stopped to visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Beautiful cinnamon colored dunes.

We arrived in Kanab about 6:00PM to our cutsey little motel Quail Park Lodge. Dinner across the street at Spurs - meh.
